I can’t find a single website November 30, 2007

Filed under: Blog, Website Reviews — admin @ 2:18 pm

Well at least I find the website I want 50% of the time and I’ll give up after 11 minutes of trying. That was the just of an article that I read the other day of witch I can’t remember the title or author. I wish I had the article to reference it here, but you know what who cares?

Think about it how often do you search and search and still find nothing that comes close to what you really need. Any search engine is just a screen scrape in an unformatted format, with the exception of the URL. The search return 11 billion kazillion webpages, but after the first page or two, it appears that most of the stuff it found is complete jiberish. How long would you stay friends with someone that told you about the crap that search engines deliver? I would say about have the time of my last search, sure it was fast, but so was my last blink. Who cares? I want quality, ask me a few question done you remeber I was looking for places to stay near disney, so now when I search for disney tickets, DON’T tell me what time peter freakin pan is playing at the local theater. Why would I want to go see a movie when I’m making travel plans? Did you think I want to learn about flying using pixie dust and the movie would give me some good research material? Did you? Where you listening when I typed “Orlando,fl hotels” or do you think I’m trying to trick you, Mr Search Engine?

The next time you go searching for something just remember the clock is ticking and you only have a total of 11 minutes and your DONE. Search engines will stop this madness when people realize that there is a better way. Using context searches, and understanding the users on the other side of the keyboard, until then be prepared to get useless junk really fast.

Your 2 cents Worth of Webhosting November 1, 2007

Filed under: Your Guess is a good as mine — admin @ 9:55 am

2 cents won’t buy much today, except webhosting at www.NearlyFreeSpeech.net. I just opened my account with them and they gave me a whole 2 cents, to get me started. I was so impressed with thier generosity I gave them a dollar.  www.NearlyFreeSpeech.net has got to be the most incredible webhosting company around today. They charge you for what you use ,$1.00 gig bandwidth and .01/mb/month, there is no time requirement on the bandwidth. They will charge you a dollar when you use the gig. What they don’t do is impressive also. They don’t have static IP addresses, hence no secure http. No dedicated server, no co-location.No email, except one forwarding address. Just plain shared hosting. They cater to the small website and that is all they want to do. They also have MySql process for 1 penny per day. You can have as many databases as you like, under the one process.

You can make payments as small as 25 cents (equals 19 cents after paypal cut).  When your site runs out of gas (gas = money) it will stop running. They explain that most of the sites that get “slashdot it” pay about $10 for the whole mess.

I will post back after I have had some time to absorb the whole thing. Just another choice to in the web hosting arena.  Check it out let me know what you think.
